Friends and Favorites

Below are links to friends’ web sites, favorite sites of mine to visit and local organizations that I am involved with. Enjoy.

Adesso, which means “now” or “in the moment” in Italian, is a jewelry line created by my friend and Santa Barbara artist Samantha Goldstone. Samantha has been making jewelry since childhood and recently committed herself to designing full-time. Samantha has traveled extensively over the last decade and has found that her local and far-away journeys influence her inspiration, materials and design. She finds treasures on each trip that are incorporated into her jewelry, making every piece unique with its own story.

Kim Schiffer / Fresh! Foods

Chef Kim Schiffer is my hero in an apron and gives me the confidence to make whatever my heart desires, no matter how challenging. Her philosophy of making everything from scratch, and I mean everything — from mayo and cheese to pickles and ice cream — with as many local ingredients as possible, has been influential on my cooking and my philosophy on life.
