Alex’s Lemonade

national lemonade days

national lemonade days

This weekend, my girls (ages 9 and 7) and I are doing some major bonding over a passionate cause, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF). This non-profit was started by cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Today, ALSF is a foundation with thousands of supporters carrying on her legacy of hope.  My family has been inspired by this organization for a few years and it holds a special place in our hearts.

This weekend, ALSF hosts their National Lemonade Days. All over the country families and organizations are putting up stands to raise money with the hope of fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure. My girls came to me a few months back and asked if they could have a lemonade stand, “for Alex.” My answer was an enthusiastic and proud, yes.

So, for all my Santa Barbara peeps, we would be honored if you stopped by our Alex’s Lemonade Stand this Saturday, June 8th. We will be set-up on Coast Village Road in Montecito right in front of dangerously good shopping at Cos Bar and Dressed from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.  We will be serving up freshly squeezed lemonade, freckles and smiles as we raise money to find a cure for pediatric cancer.

Click here for my fresh lemonade recipe. I will be squeezing this out in mass quantities on Saturday! Make a batch for you and your kids this weekend and be sure to toast Alex and her heart of hope.
