On a recent dinner outing to a “nice” restaurant with the kids in tow, my husband and I scoped out the kid’s menu and were a little jealous. Chicken noodle soup, macaroni and cheese, mini burgers and crispy chicken fingers looked pretty damn good.
As we later nibbled on the mediocre salmon and gnawed overcooked steak, my husband said, “Wouldn’t it be fun to have a total kid’s menu inspired meal?”
Well, that’s precisely the meal I cooked for his birthday. A six-course tasting menu of kids food, kicked up a notch. It was AWESOME. Arguably our most favorite dinner party ever, it actually took place at lunch and then spilled over into dinner. The food was terrific and you’d be surprised at how good PB & Js are with rose champagne.
This is a fun, easy party that is quick to pull together and was so memorable. Take those kid-friendly favorites to a new level with fresh, tasty ingredients (no processed chicken tenders or mac and cheese from a box here). Serve it all up on small-sized, pretty plates, and be sure to add some bottles of grown-up bubbles. Whatever you do, don’t forget those tater tots. Cheers!
