Rosé Wine: Birichino Vin Gris 2011

Spring is in full bloom and summer is starting to whisper in our ears; it’s time to uncork the rosé. My new favorite find is this Birichino Vin Gris 2011. This rosé is light, fruity and not too complicated– don’t we all need a little of that in our life?

It’s a perfect “picnic wine,” a highly scientific term we use at our house for drinkable, delicious wine that pairs well with a variety of food. The Birichino Vin Gris tastes similar to the French rosés and would work nicely served at brunch, lunch or even with Chinese take out.

It’s a quaffer, it’s 15 bucks and it’s from California — bonus for the local-voires out there. It’s made from amazing 100 + year-old vines in the Sierra Foothills — see it’s more than just hiking, sailing and water-skiing!

Even though I was brought up in the school of not judging a book by its cover — this cover is a beauty.  I’d like a copy of the label in a frame. I’m buying a case for my Mom for Mother’s Day, and I know my dad will love it, too.
