Viburnum is the New Hydrangea

Beautiful bouquet

green flowers

I have a special place in my heart for green flowers; this Chinese snow ball viburnum, in particular.  If you like hydrangeas (unlike Madonna), you should try adding these to your next arrangement. These long stocks of branches with apple green leaves and pom-pom-like buds that change from green to white, add a fresh and playful twist to bouquets. They’re in season, they’re beautiful, they’re green. What’s not to love?

About a year and half back we planted these babies and I’m so smitten. I had purchased viburnum in the past in bushels to use in flower arrangements, and I thought it would be fun to try my hand at growing these perennials in my cutting garden. I didn’t realize they would be so stunning, beautiful and easy to grow! When in the heck does that happen?
