Pink Lemonade Blueberries

Normally, I buy my plants and seedlings from local sources. I always like to do my part to support local Santa Barbara business.  However, the other day as I was sucked into the online browsing vortex that is Amazon.com, I came across these specialty blueberries— can you believe that Amazon carries blueberry plants?

I remembered reading about these in a recent Sunset Magazine and with a name like Pink Lemonade Blueberries, I giddily bought two with one click. Plants in the mail! This could be dangerous….

Back to the Pink Lemonade Blueberries, here’s how they looked upon delivery– not so crazy about the packaging. My daughter said, “Look at the popcorn growing on them, Mom!”

As I peeled back the tape and picked off the “popcorn,” I was shocked to find two healthy plants—that came via the post office.

The instructions say to give them a bit of water and allow them acclimate to being out of the box for about a day or two prior to planting.  Pink Lemonade Blueberries are known for being hardy—maybe not the best choice for my Zone 10 location, but great for just about any other place.

We will just have to see how these little pink cuties do here in Santa Barbara. Now where to plant them? And most importantly, what else can I order?
