Tools for Tuesday

Over the years, I’ve collected so many neat things for my kitchen, I am excited to be able to share my some of my favorite items. Believe me, the right tools can make all the difference when it comes to having fun with cooking.  So, without further ado, here are two of the tools I used for yesterday’s dirty martini.

OXO Mini angled measuring cup (You can buy this on Amazon — here):

This little cup is a fantastic solution for accurately measuring ingredients for drinks as well as liquids for baking. It has marks for cups (up to 1/4th cup), tablespoons, and ounces, which makes it a wonderful, versatile tool.  I have the hard plastic variety, but OXO also makes it in steel. Both are dishwasher safe.

The big cup and the little cup

Messermeister Serrated Swivel Peeler (This can also be found on Amazon — here):

I love how this tool manages to get only the rind of citrus without any pith.  It’s also great for getting those perfectly shaped, thin Parmesan shavings for salads and pasta.  The handle has a nice, substantial feel and a good grip to it, which allows for more control of movement, and the serrated blades cut through tough things surprisingly easily.   I’m a little bit in love with this peeler.

Note: I am not, in any way, endorsed by OXO or Messermeister. As an amateur chef myself, I am only trying to give you, the reader, as many resources as possible for your kitchen. My reviews are my opinions and impressions, and are only influenced by my own experience.
